IHF / AHA Heartsaver

This course is jointly certified by the Irish Heart Foundation and the American Heart Association.

About the course

Anybody who wishes to learn how to operate an Automated External Defibrillator and how to perform CPR can attend this training course. Prior first aid training is not necessary.


The Heartsaver AED course is delivered over 2 hours. The maximum number of candidates per instructor is 6 as strongly recommended by the IHF.

Instruction Method

Blended learning. Theory, Group discussion DVD & practical hands on training. Short videos where practicable.


Successful candidates will be issued with an IHF/AHA course completion card which is valid for 2 years. This ensures that the candidate receives international certification recognised worldwide.

Basic training materials will be provided by your instructor.

PPE may be subject to arrangement.

Instructor Quality and Training

The standard of training is kept consistently high for course participants.
Your Instructor is monitored by the IHF and follows strict codes of practice.

Learners who successfully complete this course participants will be able to:


Recognise the signs and symptoms of Cardiac Arrest and Choking.


Be able to respond without delay should an emergency incident arise.


Know the correct procedures for administering CPR and using AED.


Upon course completion candidates will be fully competent in the operation of an AED, Adult CPR, and the treatment of a choking patient.
